The Naked Truth

Are you comfortable in your own skin as you age? When it comes to taking a romp in the garden of life, many of us feel that we would never dare be seen with out some sort of cover up. The beach is a distant memory. Truth is our bodies really do long for that sense of freedom.
The knocks and mileage of time have accrued but the body is still a beautiful work and we could think of it as such if only we let ourselves. As children there was no better feeling than running around being naked. It was joyful and uninhibited. There is an actual movement to spend more time outdoors in the buff. Think of how you feel about that. We know in human studies that being naked improves circulation, it improves skin health and can increase our self-esteem. We feel more free emotionally, physically and mentally. Nakedness can actually improve body self-acceptance, particularly after life changes.
Many seniors enjoy being naked at home and even exercising with the same freedom. They are quite accepting of their aging bodies and they don't let it bother them that time has made some changes. The bottom line, so to speak, is that we don't feel shameful.
Take yourself back to feeling the warmth of the sun on your skin, the breeze as it brushes over you and how liberating it feels to be in the comfort of nature; the trees, the fragrant grass. The unique and colourful flowers and songbirds. We are meant to be in nature. To feel the natural elements, sights, sounds and sensations as they wash over you. Imagine!
Take some time to be grateful that your body has carried you this far. It is still working and taking you along in life. Give it the best care and honour it. Show it some love and some freedom. Make yourself comfortable with the naked truth and treat it with the special respect it has earned.
